Welcome to our new kitchen! This is the first episode of Big Food little kitchen in the new house. It’s a great place, but not a lot of kitchen space to work with.
Nikki and I made a batch of cabbage soup – as Thai style as we can make it, I think – and it’s a dish that makes plenty of leftovers that you can eat for the bulk of the week. I know, I’ve done it!
What you’ll need:
Crockpot (or large pot and a stove)
Head of cabbage
1/2 container of cherry tomatoes
1/2 package of dried shiitake mushrooms (yes I know I spelled them wrong in the video)
Bunch of fresh cilantro
Low sodium, or Thai-style, soy sauce (shiitake mushroom flavored would be a bonus)
It’s been nearly a year since we last produced a video for Big Food little kitchen. That’s all going to change! I promise! I’ve got a couple episodes in the can and just have to do some editing – then you can feast on ‘em!
Look for more fun dishes you can create in your cramped kitchen and more Thai delectables. We’ll also be looking to do more guest cooking spots in and around the Ann Arbor, Michigan area.
We’re going to work better to recommend recipes and products on this site that will make your cooking life more fun, too!
See you soon!

Ryan “the Wolf” Baum-a-long-a-ding-dang and I headed down to the large asian market on Washtenaw Ave. in Ypsilanti, Michigan and found plenty of interesting things to look at and savor over – including a tankful of edible turtles! YUM!
